Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To provide a high efficient grinding of free rate of curvature by a method wherein a vertical displacement of a grinder head is sensed, both the head and the table are moved vertically with each other, the workpiece is inclined, a curved surface engaging pressure of the grinder tool is set to a desired pressure, resulting in performing a self-guiding profile grinding operation. CONSTITUTION: In case of grinding of a curved surface 79 of a workpiece 6, a table 9 is moved in a direction indicated by arrow. A rotary resilient tool 5 is oscillated by an oscillating motor 60 in a direction of X. Since the workpiece 6 is moved by a feeding of the table 9, some displacement is produced at the tool 5. This displacement is sensed by a displacement sensor 38, DC motor is rotated in a reverse direction via limit switches 75, 76 in such a way as a level of the output wave form is set in a specified range in response to a size of level of the output waveform, i.e. a height of grinding position of the curved surface 79, and then the workpiece is rotated around the shaft 78. Thus, the tool 5 is always contacted with the curved surface with a specified pressure and a grinding efficiency for a free curved surface is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
