Heating roller fixing device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To shorten the warming-up time and perform good fixing treatment by providing a heating source provided with a heat radiation surface encircling nearly the half circumference of a pressure-contact roller in proximity to the pressure- contact roller. CONSTITUTION: The heating roller 15 of a fixing device 14 is heated at the warming-up operation of an electrophotographic copier; at the same time, the electric power is supplied to the heating conductive layer 31 of a heating source 29 provided in proximity to a pressure-contact roller 21 and provided with a heat radiation surface encircling nearly the half circle of the roller 21. Thereby, the entire circumference of nearly the half circumference of the roller 21 spaced from the roller 15 is radiation-heated and the peripheral temperature of the roller 21 is raised rapidly. Hence, the warming-up time of the fixing device shortens and good fixing treatment is accomplished by the roller 21 turning in contact with the roller 15 by spacing from the heating source 29 which is cut off of electric power supply upon ending of the uniform warming-up and the roller 15.
