Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in workability and flocculation capacity by uniformly mixing water-soluble alkali metal salts that can retain water of crystallization multistepwise and a high polymer flocculant together with the specific amount of water. CONSTITUTION: The flocculant is obtained by adding water of the amount sufficient to cause mixing and of the amount at which metal salts can be retained as water of crystallization or the amount less than this to one or more kinds of water-soluble alkali metal salts or alkaline earth metal salts that can retain water of crystallization multistepwise and uniforming mixing these. It is desirable that the metal salts of the above-mentioned flocculant is within a range of 5W100pts.wt. in total equivalent weight based on 1pt.wt. of the high polymer flocculant. In addition, sodium sulfate, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride or magnesium sulfate is desirable as the metal salts and polyacrylamide base high polymer flocculants are desirable as the high polymer flocculant.
