Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To simplify the mechanism of a cassette, make it smaller-sized and extend its durability in a printer fitted with the driving mechanism of an ink ribbon contained in the cassette by a method wherein the cassette can be driven as it is positioned regularly or inversely. CONSTITUTION: A cassette case 1 has rotating shafts 13, 13' which rotate in a unitary body with an ink ribbon driving gear, its section is noncircular and it is formed so that it projects from the upper surface 1-1 and the lower surface 1-2 of the cassette 1. When the cassette 1 is set regularly on a printer, the rotating shaft 13 is inserted into the groove 19 of the gear 8 supported on the base plate 10 through a shaft and the gear 8 rotates clockwise to feed the ribbon. When the cassette 1 is set inversely, the rotating shaft 13' is inserted into the groove 19' of the gear 9 and the gear 9 rotates counterclockwise by the rotation by the motor 11 through the operation of the belt 15 and the gear 17. In this case the upper half or the lower half 20, 21, of the ink ribbon 2 is used respectively. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
