Pneumatic radial tyre
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To improve the strength at the bead section of a pneumatic radial tyre, by constituting it with a triangular truss structure, and at the same time to distribute and alleviate stress concentration effectively at the end of a metallic cord by putting a soft rubber member into the triangular truss structure. CONSTITUTION: Both ends of a carcass ply 1 consisting of metallic cords which extend at approximately 90° to the central plane in the circumferential direction of a tyre goes around the bead wire 2 from inside to outside, and a metallic cord bracing layer 3 is provided adjacent to the outside of the folding of the carcass ply 1. Further, fibre card layers 5 and 6 are arranged, which are to reinforce the area where the end 1a of the carcass ply 1 and the end 3a of the bracing layer 3 are positioned close to and outside of the bracing layer 3. The section with a cross section of substantially triangle that is enclosed by those members 1, 3, 5 and 6 is filled with soft rubber as a bead apex 7. In this arrangement the tyre can maintain enough strength to support loads applied to it. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
