Supporting arm of magnetic head slider

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To increase the capability of oscillation attenuation of the support arm and to obtain better attenuation, by attaching a substance with viscocity and elasticity on the surface of the magnetic head slider support arm or coating the damping paint. CONSTITUTION:The core 16 of the gimbals spring of the magnetic head slider support arm 15 consisting of the support mechanism elastically supporting the magnetic head slider 1 and giving the load force, is constituted with the metal plate spring, the surface of which is attached with the substance with elasticity and viscosity or is coated with damping paint 17. Thus, the composite construction of the damper member and metallic plate spring can suppress the peak of amplitude of resonance of the magnetic head slider at various oscillation modes and increase the effect of oscillation attenuation.
