Magnetic head device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reproduce tracks, recorded by one couple of magnetic head, immediately by the other couple of magnetic heads, by equipping the different-height couples of magnetic heads on the top surface of a rotary cylinder. CONSTITUTION:On the top surface of a rotary cylinder 4, holders 2a and 2b for one couple of magnetic heads 1a and 1b are fixed by fixing screws 3a and 3b at symmetric positions in the same plane. Then, the other couple of magnetic heads 1c and 1d are fixed at an angle phi with a difference (h) in height. In this case, the height (h) is Vtphisintheta/(2piR), where Vt is the speed of a magnetic tape 6, P the rotational frequency of the rotary cylinder, and theta the angle contained between a recorded track and the edge of the magnetic tape. Consequently, tracks recorded by the magnetic heads 1a and 1b are reproduced by the other couple of magnetic heads 1c and 1d.
