Dust collection

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To improve the performance of dust-collecting water for performing dust collection with less scaling trouble, by adding a block copolymer obtained from polyethylene glycol monoallyl ether and methacrylic acid monomer to a circulating water. CONSTITUTION: A block polymer, composed of a 5:95W60:40 repeating unit of polyethylene glycol monoallyl ether (A) of the formula I (where n is 5W100) and a methacrylic acid monomer (B) of the formula II (where R is H or methyl group and X is a mono- or divalent metal, NH 3 group, or an organic amine group), is added to a circulating water used for dust collection. The block polymer used is neutralized with an alkaline substance as needed. The use of the circulating water enables one to prevent the deposition of scale from the circulating water, or enables small amounts of scale, if any, to be softened and removed by the flow of water.
