Electrocoloring display element
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To make color displaying of multiple kinds possible and to improve contrast by sandwiching an electrolyte layer between a pair of electrode layers, and interposing the 1st electrochromic layer and the 2nd electrochromic layer contg. specific metallic oxides. CONSTITUTION:The 1st electrocromic layer 4 contg. metallic oxides of low oxidation numbers coloring in an oxidized state, and the 2nd electrochromic layer 5 contg. metallic oxides coloring in a reduced state are interposed between a pair of electrode layers 2 and 3 of which at least one is light transmittable, with an electrolyte layer 8 in-between, whereby the electrocoloring display element is formed. There are V2O3, WO2, Cu2O, NiO, etc. for the metallic oxides coloring in an oxidized state, and there are WO3, U2O5, GaO, MnO3, SnO2, IrO2, etc. as the metallic oxides coloring in a reduced state. The material constituting the electrolyte layer is the one having ion conductivity including acids, alkalis, salts, moisture, and hydrous materials.
