Resin for plastic lens for spectacles
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a resin for lenses with high workability by reacting a copolymer of a monomer having a specified structural formula and a resin monomer having a specified range of refractive index and Abbe's number with an epoxy resin curing agent contg. halogen. CONSTITUTION:A monomer having a structural formula represented by the formula (where each of X, Y, Z and R2 is H, halogen or alkyl and R1 is alkyl) is copolymerized with a resin monomer having 1.55-1.65 D refractive index and >=40 Abbe's number. This copolymer is then mixed with an epoxy curing agent contg. halogen and having a high refractive index, and the mixture is injection-molded and heated to cause secondary curing. The resulting plastic lenses can be reduced by about 40-50% in thickness as compared to conventional lenses, and they have high workability and are easily used as lenses for glasses.
