Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To provide the laser-beam recording material which has a high sensitivity, a low thermodiffusive property and a high optical contrast by providing a light- reflecting film and a laser-beam absorbing layer on a substrate, with a plasma- polymerized film provided between the reflecting film and the layer. CONSTITUTION: The light-reflecting film 2 of aluminum or the like is formed on one side of the substrate 1 such as a glass plate or plastic plate by vacuum deposition. The laser-beam absorbing layer 3 where recording is performed through melting or evaporation caused by thermal energy is composed of a thin film of metal such as Te, Bi, etc., a thin film of chalcogen glass containing Se, Te, etc., a thin film of dye or the like. The layer 3 is placed on the light-reflecting film 2 through the light-transmitting plasma-polymerized film 4 produced by a glow discharge in the gas of an organic monomer such as styrene, acrylonitrile, etc. In the said laser- beam recording material, the thickness of the films and/or layer are so adjusted that the sum of the optical thickness of the layer 3 and that of the film 4 is equal to 1/4 of the wavelength of the laser beam used.
