Pigment dispersant of developer for electrophotography
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a developer capable of maintaining dispersion stability for a long period, less in photographic fog, and excelling in fixing performance, by using N-vinyl-2-pyrolidone polymer or copolymer as the pigment dispersant. CONSTITUTION: As the pigment dispersant of developer for electrophotography, a single polymer of N-vinyl-2-pyrolidone is used by 10W500wt% in pigment (carbon black, iron oxide red, organic pigment, etc.). As copolymer, N-vinyl-2-pyrolidone is used by 2W50wt%, and as comonomer, ester having alkyl radical of more than C 6 of (meth)acrylic acid should be preferable. The developer is prepared by adding the pigment, this dispersant, and dye and polarity controlling agent (such as metal soap) as necessary, and dispersing in solvent (of isoparaffin compound, of which boiling point should be preferably 100W200°C). Thus, the time required for dispersion is shortened, and a developer capable of producing high contrast image may be obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
