Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To provide a less amount of initial wear, by providing a hole factor of specific value and a soft sintered alloy of hardness in the hitting face of light alloy- made valve rocker material with a cam, push rod or valve end face, and constructing tri-ioron tetroxide on its surface. CONSTITUTION: In the hitting face of the valve rocker material, made of light alloy like aluminums, with cam or push rod or valve end face, is provided a chip material 2 of iron system sintered alloy, including one kind or more than two kinds of element that constructs a hard phase, with the hard phase of hardness HV800W1800 being 5W70% as area ratio, and a size of hard layer of more than 70% of the hard phase total particles being 1W150μ, having an overall hardness of HV500W900, and having a hole factor of 0.5W10% further with a hole of less than 150μ. While immersing the base material portion of a rocker arm 1 in a coolant 3, surfaces of the chip material 2 is processed a steam treatment by a burner 4, to construct tri- iron tetroxide.
