Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To express many information on one line to shorten the time required for scanning of one line by dividing one line into two upper and lower print areas and printing independent characters on respective areas. CONSTITUTION: Data inputted from external device 1 through interface part 2 is stored in buffer memory 3, and after storage of one-line components, data is read successively and applied to data decision part 4 to discriminate large, middle and small characters and characters for the upper area and the lower area. Further, prescribed dot patterns are stored successively from character generator 5 into dot arrangement part 6 on a basis of signals from timing generation part 7; and when one-line components of dot patterns are inputted to arrangement part 6, dot patterns are read from arrangement part 6 in order in the vertical direction on a basis of print timing signals from generation part 7 in parallel with form feeding dependent upon form feeding part 10. Then, print head 9 is driven by print head driving circuit 8 to print small characters 12b and numerics 13a corresponding to Chinese characters 1 onto the upper area and the lower area respectively.
