Preparation of propylene-ethylene block copolymer

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the title copolymer with excellent flexibility, processability, tensile strength or the like by a method wherein an isotactic polypropylene segment with specific ratio is produced and thereafter a propylene-ethylene random copolymer is produced. CONSTITUTION: The propylen polymerization is initiated in the presence of a catalyst for producing isotactic polypropylene and a molecular weight modifier at the pressure below 30kg/cm 2 g and the temperature of about 0W100°C to produce isotactic polypropylene segment of 20W50wt% based on the total polymer amount. Subsequently, a mixture of ethylene 30W85wt% and propylene 70W15wt% is added to produce propylene-ethylene random copolymer of 50W80wt% based on the total polymer amount.
