Picture memory system

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To transfer picture data efficiently at a high speed by enabling several sub-systems to use any picture memory simultaneously by attaining high-speed and normal access by enabling several sub-systems to share any picture memory. CONSTITUTION: Picture memories 101 1 W101 4 which can operate by attaining single-word access and multi-word access and sub-systems 102 1 W102 4 which use those memories 101 1 W101 4 are provided and those memories 101 1 W101 4 are connected to sub-systems 102 1 W102 4 via single-word access lines 103 1 W103 4 , and 104 1 W104 4 , and multi-access lines 106 1-1 W106 1-4 , and 106 2-1 W106 2-4 . In addition, crossbar connection unit 105 is provided which performs single-word data transfer in parallel between any of memories 101 1 W101 4 and any of sub-systems 102 1 W102 4 to transfer data, word by word, simultaneously between sub-systems 102 1 W102 4 and memories 101 1 W101 4 by this unit 105.
