Microwave solid-state oscillator
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To make it possible to set a frequency without reference to an oscillation output by connecting a semiconductor direct oscillating element to a microstrip line formed on a dielectric substrate surface and then by determining an oscillation frequency by a dielectric resonator constituted on the substrate. CONSTITUTION: To ends of microstrip lines 4a and 4b extended from the left terminal of hybrid 3 composed of microwave integrated circuit MIC, semiconductor direct oscillating elements 1a and 1b are connected, and dielectric resonators 2a and 2b are arranged on dielectric substrate 10 which are approximately electric angle π/2 away from them and close to lines 4a and 4b. The distance between open terminal surface T 3 of line 6 extended from the other terminal of hybrid 3 and reference surface T 4 in the direction to hybrid 3 is so selected that when output waves from two oscillators return after being reflected by the opening terminal of line 6, the both will cancel each other. As a result, output waves of two oscillators are superposed each other by output-side line 7 in phase and a composite output is led out to a load. Since the oscillation frequency depends upon resonators 2a and 2b, two frequencies can easily be matched. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
