Method of pyrolyzing polyolefin plastics
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: Polyolefin plastics are pyrolyzed in a reactor in which the part containing reactants and another part effecting vapor-phase reactions are adjusted to specific temperatures respectively, thus giving oligomers and hydrocarbon of high purity in high yield. CONSTITUTION: Polyolefin plastics are charged in column 4 and molten by heating to about 300W330°C. The molten plastics are fed by screw feeder 5 into the part containing reactants, that is, plastics 1 in the reactor 3 that is kept at 350W470°C to effect pyrolysis. The low-molecular-weight fraction in the pyrolysate is led to the part effecting vapor-phase reactions 2 controlled to 110W470°C and fractioned and collected in receiver 7. The fraction that could not be collected is cooled with water cooler 8 and collected in receiver 9. The oligomer remaining in the reactant part is taken out of the bottom through valve 10.
