Method of ink jet printing and its platen
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce the permeation of an ink jet along fibers and improve the resolution, by line-feeding printing paper while supporting the printing paper on its reverse side and heating the paper. CONSTITUTION:A heater 2 is provided in a platen 1. A thermocouple 3 is provided in contact with the cylindrical platen. An electrical current for the heater is intermitted depending on a detected temperature to keep the temperature of the cylindrical platen constant. Printing paper 4 is brought into pressural contact with the platen by two guide rollers 5. An ink jet is caused to collide in the direction of an arrow A against the printing paper. Since the density of printing is set at O.D.0.8 and the permeation of the ink is reduced, the resolution is improved to seven lines per millimeter. The printing paper can be smoothly line-fed. The heating efficiency of the cylindrical platen is high. Heating electric power for the platen is reduced by about 50% in comparison with a fixed platen.
