Intermetallic compound magnet
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To enhance the saturation magnetic flux density of an inter-metallic cpd. magnet consisting of a rare earth element and transition elements by using Pr as the rare earth element. CONSTITUTION: In an intermetallic cpd. magnet represented by formula RM z (where R is a rare element such as Sm, Ce, La or Pr, M is a group of transition elements contg. at least Co and Fe, and z is a M component ratio of 6.8W9.0), Pr or two or more kinds of rare earth elements including Pr are used as the rare earth element R. At this time, the ratio of R:M is regulated to 2:17, e.g. R 2 M 17 . In case of coexistence of R 2 M 17 and an RM 5 cpd. having superior magnetic characteristics or an R 2 M 17 cpd. single phase state with respect to the z value, necessary coercive force is obtd. and permanent magnet formation is taken into account. In addn., since the magnet is based on R 2 M 17 , z≥6.8 is desirable. By adding an alloy component other than Co, permanent magnet formation is enabled even in case of z≈9.
