Production of magnetic toner

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To improve dispersibility of magnetic powder and improve resistance value, conveyability and electrical characteristics by thermally kneading the specific magnetic powder paste of a hydrous state together with a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION: Magnetic powder, a polymerization initiator producing HSO 3 - , etc. are added to a mixed solution of a vinyl polymerizable monomer such as acrylic ester and water and the solution is heated and stirred. The suspension prepared in this way is filtered, by which the magnetic paste of a hydrous state deposited with monomer polymer through rinsing is obtained. This paste is directly added to a thermoplastic resin without undergoing grinding and drying, and the mixed paste is thermally kneaded. Thus results in the improved even dispersibility of the magnetic powder in the thermoplastic resin owing to the compatible effect of the vinyl polymer and thermoplastic resin and yet the improved bondability of the magnetic powder to the thermoplastic resin even if the magnetic powder content is high.
