Light isolator
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To eliminate loss of quantity of light and multiply the utilization rate of light by providing materials having double refractive indices on both sides of a polarizing body composed of magneto-optic material and rotatory polarizing material. CONSTITUTION: Materials 10, 11 having double refractive indexes are provided on the respective one end faces of material 12 having magneto-optic effect and rotatory polarizing material 13. As incident light A passes through the material 10, it is divided to perpendicularly and horizontally polarized mutually orthognal ordinary ray 14 and extraordinary ray 15, and these are then entered to the material 12, where they are rotated 45° to right with respect to the advancing direction. Further by passing through the material 13, they are rotated 45° to left and by passing through the material 11 the rays 14, 15 are integrated to light B which is then emitted. Hence, all polarizations are separated to orthogonal two polarizing components and pass from the left to the right without any light loss. On the other hand, the incident light from the right is separated to the left and is emitted. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
