Recording and reproducing device for video format signal

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To make it possible to reproduce a video format signal correctly with a picture and sound mixed by simultaneously recording a picture signal and sound signal, both modulated, on a recording medium and then by detecting making a dicision on a discrimination signal at a reproduction side. CONSTITUTION: At a recording side, modulation circuit 4 FM-modulates a, picture signal carrier from picture-signal carrir generating circuit 5 by a video format signal and modulation circuit 8 modulates a sound signal carrier from sound-signal carrier generating circuit 9 by a discrimination signal. Then, recorder 10 records signals of circuits 4 and 8 on recording medium 11 at the same time and at the reproduction side, the discrimination signal is detected 15 and supplied to decision circuit 16 to output the picture or sound information decision signal, thereby discriminating and reproducing picture information and sound information.
