Blue illuminant and its manufacture
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: A blue illuminant capable of reducing the irradiation sharply on coating intensifying screens, e.g. medical X-ray film, having a strong blue emission, comprising a europium compound of a specific structural formula. CONSTITUTION: Hydrobromic acid is added to BaCO 3 containing europium (III) ions to give the bromide of formula I, which is heated in the atmosphere of hydrogen at 700°C for 2hr to reduce the europium (III) ions to europium (II)ions. BaCO 3 and H 3 BO 3 are reacted with the ions at 800W900°C for 2hr to form the objective blue illuminant of formula II: (x is 0.0025W0.1; n is 1,3,5,7, or 9). COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
