Three-dimensional polycyanurate and its preparation

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To prepare a novel polycyanurate useful as an ion-exchange membrane, etc. and having high transparency, rubber elasticity and sterilizing power, by corsslinking a polymer having hydroxyl groups and tertiary amino groups as vicinal side chains, with cyanuric chloride. CONSTITUTION: A three-dimensional polycyanurate is prepared by reacting (A) a polymer having hydroxyl groups and thertiary amino groups as vicinal side chains with (B) cyanuric chloride. The byproduced hydrogen chloride is trapped with the tertiary amino groups in the polymer, to form crosslinked three-dimensional structure. The component (A) is preferably a polymer of the formula (R 1 is H or 1W5C alkyl; R 2 is halogen, alkoxy, phenyl derivative, etc.; R 3 is 1W5C alkyl; R 4 is divalent hydrocarbon residue, ester, etc.; R 5 WR 7 are H or alkyl; p and q are 100W 5000).
