Light beam scanner
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To make scanning of light beam linear by disposing a concave faced mirror such as the one whose section perpendicular to the desired scanning direction is a portion of an ellipse or circle in such a position where the deflecting point of a light deflector and scanning plane assumes an imaging relation. CONSTITUTION: When the laser beam 2 from a laser light source 1 radiates the hologram disc 3 which is making rotating motion at the first focus F 1 of an ellipse 8, the light beam diffracted by the hologram disc 3 is deflected in the direction perpendicular to the plane of figure, i.e., desired scanning direction. At the same time, it is also deflected in the direction verical to the plane of the figure, i.e., in undesired direction. Whereas, from the nature of the reflecting mirror 9 that the diffracted beam reflected by the reflecting mirror 9 whose section is part of the ellipse always passes the second focus F 2 of the ellipse 8 even if the light beam is scanned in the vertical direction of the plane of the figure, scanning may be made linearly in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the figure if the second focus F 2 of the ellipse is let to be the scanning plane of a scanning body 10.
