Back up unit for main line system in catv system

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To enable to perform effective monitor by using the auxiliary transmission line, through the selection of a failure in the main line system to the spare system only for the faulty section. CONSTITUTION: The reception television signal from the antenna 1 is transmitted to the amplifiers 7-1∼7-n having the branched output located along the transmission line 3 via one of the existing and spare head ends 2a and 2b. Each amplifier is provided with the main power supplies 8-1∼8-n, spare power supplies 9-1∼9-n, and back up units 11-1∼11-n. The back up unit monitors the output level of the corresponding amplifier to perform the monitor of power failure and power supply selection control, and delivers the monitor signal specific to those units to the auxiliary transmission line 10. The central monitor unit 6 monitors the head end and delivers the television signal to the transmission line 10 when detecting the faulty amplifier with the monitor signal from the back up unit and adds this signal to the preceding amplifier of the faulty amplifier.
