High speed steel powder of high wear resistance

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To provide a high speed steel powder, which is used in powder metallurgy and which has excellent wear resistance, by adjusting the contents of W and Mo of the high speed steel to specific values, and simultaneously by increasing the content of V. CONSTITUTION: The powder of a high speed steel comprising 1.4W1.6% C, 3.8W 4.5% Cr, 4.2W5.2% Co, <4.0% Mo 10W16% W+2Mo, 6W12% V is made by atomization. The powder is put into a vessel made of mild steel, degassed, and pressurized by a hot static hydropress, and sintered. Hereby a material for tools, which is excellent in wear resistance and suitable for material of discontinuous cutting tools for engraving diesteel, is manufactured. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
