Heating method for furnace body in blowing-in of shaft furnace
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To protect furnace wall bricks which are liable to be broken by compressive thermal stress, by heating in succession to the rise in furnace temp. the iron shell with high-temp. medium in order to expand the shell. CONSTITUTION: A cooling means 3 and a stamp material 4 are arranged in the space between the inner periphery of the iron shell 1 and the outer periphery of the bricks 2. When the inner periphery of bricks is heated by blowing in, high-temp. medium, e.g., hot water or hot air etc., is made flow into the cooling means 3 in order to expand the iron shell 1. Hereby compressive stress in the bricks 2 is decreased and simultaneously appropriate compressive stress remains and prevents the high temp. gas in the furnace from leaking. The temp. at which the shell is to be heated is previously determined by the measurement of the strain of the shell and the temp. in the furnace. This mechanism allows the bricks 2 to expand without being pressed tightly by the shell 1, so that no breakage or cracks are made in the bricks 2. Equipment of a cooling means for the furnace body at outside of the iron shell 1 produces similar effects. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
