Automatic variable magnification copier

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To copy automatically into copying paper of the same size regardless of the size of the original, by detecting the size of the original set in place and that of copying paper to determine the magnification of copying, and copying automatically by moving the optical system according to the determined magnification. CONSTITUTION: For example, a photo detector 20 is provided on an original cover 19 to press the original tightly against an original platen 10, corresonding to the original placed differing in size, and the size of the original is detected by the light from a lamp 21. A cassette 23 holding copying paper is detachably fitted a paper feed port 24 of the main body, and a microswitch 25 to detect the cassette size when loading the cassette 23 is provided at the paper feed port 24, and the size of copying paper is detected by the contact of protruding piece corresponding to the switch 25 provided on the side of the cassette 23. Being based on the detection of the original size and copying paper size, the travels y and x of moving mirror 15 and moving lens 16 of an optical system 12 are determined, and the driving of the moving mirror and moving lens are controlled.
