Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To prevent the production of partial variations of response speeds, Newton rings, etc. and achieve the evenness of characteristics by simultaneously printing the spacer agent on the outside circumference of the liquid crystal cell and the stanchion agents for supporting the in-cell space to a uniform thickness. CONSTITUTION: Stanchions 8 are provided in order to even the thickness of the space between the transparent base materials 1a, 1b of the liquid crystal cell to be twist-oriented in which liquid crystal 3 is put. The stanchion agents 8 and the spacer agent of a spacer 2 having a liquid crystal injection part 7 are simultaneously printed to constitute the space. If the size of the stanchions 8 is made less than 100μm, the appearance is not unsightly. If one of the portions of the polarizing plate pair opposing to the portions where the stanchions in the cell exist is blanked by pressing or the like to remove polarization, unnatural feeling may be reduced. In this way, a uniform liquid crystal sandwiching space may be obtained even with the large liquid crystal cell by the simple method and good characteristics may be secured.
