Intake system for multi-cylinder internal combustion engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To enhance the combustion character of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine by providing a throttle valve and a second throttle valve in the intake passage of the engine and communicating the passage between these valves and the neighborhood of an intake valve with an auxiliary branch passage such that air- fuel mixture is introduced into the combustion chamber in a tangential direction thereto from the branch passage. CONSTITUTION: An intake port 5 of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine 1 is made spiral, and a throttle valve 12 and a second throttle valve 14 are provided within an intake passage 10. The passage between the valve 25 and 26 and the neiborhood a spiral intake valve 6 of an intake port 5 are communicated with an auxiliary branch passage 25 and 26. The second throttle valve 14 is opened and closed by a negative pressure sensor means 17 which is driven by the intake tube negative pressure immediately downstream the throttle valve 12, and it is held closed at the time of low engine load condition and open at the time of high engine load condition. Thus, at the time of the low engine load air-fuel mixture is introduced as spiral vortex from the branch passage 25 and 26 into a combustion chamber 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
