Outboard engine provided with means for removing moisture and salt from secondary air

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of a catalyst by permitting external air to be withdrawn through a salt adsorption medium and supplying the withdrawn air as secondary air. CONSTITUTION:External air introduced into a moisture and salt removing means 9, which is disposed in front of exhaust gas exhaust ports 3a of cylinders 3, is deprived of moisture and salt, and the resultant air is supplied as secondary air through a supply hole 10 provided on an exhaust manifold 4 into an exhaust gas purifying catalyst 18. Thus, it is possible to improve the function and extend the life of the catalyst used in the outboard engine.
