Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce greatly the dispersion of the natural frequency and thus to increase the accuracy by extending the process length of the processed material by the amount equivalent to the length of the metal bar and then retarding the processing speed by the metal bar to decrease the warp gradually and then to arrange the length of the resonance branches. CONSTITUTION:Metal bar 6 of the soft steel, the stainless steel or the like is installed across crystl block 10 formed by piling several sheets of crystal thin plates, and then metal thin wire 3 made to thouch the block to carry out cutting. When wire 3 has a contact to bar 6, the process length of the processed material is extended by the amount equivalent to the length of bar 6. And the warp of bar 6 is decreased gradually since bar 6 features the slower processing speed due to the abrasive grain than block 10. And in case the both side faces near the groove bottom of resonance branch 11a of crystal tuning fork 11 possess the concavities and the inner surface of the groove bottom forms a concavity, the lengths of branches 11a can be made even for one process. As a result, the dispersion of the natural frequency can be reduced greatly, thus obtaining high-accuracy fork 11.
