Electro-optical display device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To form the electro-optical display device of low voltage driving and low power consumption by using the electro-optical ceramics formed of particles of mean particle sizes 12μ or over. CONSTITUTION: For example, in the display device which is constituted by disposing transparent electrodes 2, 3 and polarizing plates 4, 5 on both sides of electro- optical ceramics 1 and providing a reflecting plate 6 on the display back side and which makes use of retardation effect owing to double refraction, the one formed of particles of mean particle sizes 12μ or under is used as the abovementioned electro optical ceramics 1. The use of the abovementioned coarse particle ceramics plate for the display device making use of polarization cancellation effect is also equally effective because it is able to decrease its required transfer field intensity.
