Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To produce the modulating plates which operate under low voltage through simple process by stacking and integrating the plural plate bodies provided with conductive layers on mutually opposing flat plate faces in such a manner that the outside edges thereof do not mutually overlap and then cutting the assembly in the specific direction. CONSTITUTION: Plural plate bodies F 1 thru F n provided with conductive layers 22a and 22b on mutually opposing flat plate faces 21a and 21b are prepared. The plate bodies are stacked and integrated to a block body D in such a manner that the outside edges of the plate bodies F 1 , F 3 ,.... When viewed from their stacking direction overlap with the outer edges of the plate bodies F 2 , F 4 ,.... Next, the block body D is cut along the mutually parallel plural planes crossing the flat plate faces 21a, 21b of the plate bodies F 1 thru F n and the cut faces thereof are optically polished to form the plural bit light phase modulating plates M. Since the side edges of the electrodes E 1 , E 2 attached to the elements K 1 thru K n of the modulating plate M face the outside at a wide area, their connection to the outside becomes easy. Thereby, the modulating plates operating under low voltage may be made through the simple process. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
