Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To facilitate retrieval of areas by providing a non-transparent map on the top of liquid crystal shutter, providing a photoconductive plate on the bottom surface and letting the light from light source display cities by way of the photoconductive plate through the holes provided in correspondence to the cities on the map. CONSTITUTION:When a micro lamp 11 provided to the side face of a photoconductive plate 9 is lighted, the entire part of the bottom face of the liquid crystal shutter consisting of an upper substrate 4, liquid crystal 5, lower substrate 7, etc. is lighted by the photoconductive plate 9. Here, when the voltage applied to a pair of transparent electrodes 6 corresponding to the position of the selected city is controlled, the liquid crystal shutter is opened and the light 13 is transmitted through the hole 3 corresponding to that city. In the positions of other non-selected cities, the liquid crystal shutter is closed and the light 12 is cut off by controlling the voltage to be applied to a pair of the transparent electrodes 6.
