Continuous production of polyolefin with broad molecular weight distribution
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: The polymerization of olefins is effected using a Ziegler's catalyst with heightened activity under prescribed conditions in the first and second polymerizers respectively to produce continuously polyolefins with broad molecular weight distribution. CONSTITUTION: The Gaseous or liquid main monomer and other olefins for copolymerization are introduced from pipe 3 into reactor 1 and a liquid polymerization solvent is supplied from pipe 7. An inert gas is sent from pipe 5 and the catalyst is supplied from pipe 6 where the catalyst is a Ziegler's catalyst supported on a solid carrier with heightened activity and dispersed in a solvent. The polymerization mixture is sent from the first reactor continuously through pipe 12 into the second reactor provided with a stirrer. The polymerization of the mixture sent into the second reactor is continued under additional supply of hydrogen from pipe 8 and main monomer from pipe 13. COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
