Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To improve the pressure change following-up performance of a variable venturi type carburetor during a transitional period by constituting same such that a negative pressure chamber formed by a piston of the carburetor is acted upon by proper negative pressure by way of a pressure responsive member. CONSTITUTION: A piston 5 is disposed perpendiclarly to a suction passage 3 for sliding movement in the vertical direction in an outer cylinder 9. The piston 5 has its central section slidably accommodated in a cylindrical guide 20, and there is disposed inside the central section of the piston 5 a metalling rod 17 which has a fuel injection slit 17a formed at one end there of and has its other end extending into a float chamber 15. A diaphragm 39 of a pressure responsive member 37 is connected to a plunger 45 which has a pilot valve 47, and thus there are formed a chamber 41, first and second chambers 49, 51. Negative pressure in a spacing 33 in the upstream of a throttle valve 1 is transmitted to the chamber 41 whereby the valve 47 is opened and closed to thereby change the amount of the negative pressur to be communicated to a negative chamber 11.
