Defrosting system of refrigerator

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To shorten the defrosting time by lowering the heat content of a cooler in defrosting cycle, to thereby prevent temperature rise in a cooled chamber, and in heater-type forced defrosting system to reduce its power consumption by reducing the time period for which current is fed to a defrost heater. CONSTITUTION: With a defrost control timer motor 7 is fed with current for a certain period to start defrost operation, a normally open contact 9 is closed and a solenoid valve 4 between a condenser 2 and a cooler 5 is closed. Thereafter for a certain period a normally closed contact 8 is kept open and a compressor 1 is operated for the period, so that the low side between the valve 4 and compressor 1 is evacuated to near a vacuum. At the same time when the contact 8 is opened to stop the compressor 1, a normally open contact T3 is closed to feed current to a defrost heater 12, starting the defrosting of the cooler 5.
