Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To facilitate production of head shells for mounting of pickup cartridges, make the same inexpensive and lighter in weigth, and yet increase their strength, rigidity, etc. and obviate the occurrence of partial resonances, etc. by using a plasma chemical vapor deposition process. CONSTITUTION: A head shell base 8 such as Al provided with a connector mounting hole 10 is heated in a reaction furnace, whereby the head shell 2 which has been formed with an even boron layer 9 of more than 5000kh/mm 2 in specivic modulus on the outside of the base 8 by mixed gases of BCl 3 and H 2 in plasma condition under reduced pressure is obtained COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
