Operating cylinder number control system for engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To provide an operating cylinder number control system for an engine, which can reliably cut air-fuel mixture to cylinders not to be operated and also permits smooth movement even at the time of switching from the stopped state to the operating state, and which particularly uses a hydraulic lifter for operating an intake-exhaust valve. CONSTITUTION: In a system comprising a valve 10, a valve spring retainer 12 secured to the upper end of the valve, a value spring 16 interposed between the retainer 12 and cylinder head 14, a rocker arm 18 for opening the valve 10, a cam provided on a cam shaft 19 for urging the rocker arm in accordance with the engine operation timing and hydraulic lifter 22 constituting the fulcrum point for the rocker arm 18 and having an automatic valve gap adjustment function, an oil discharge path 50 for releasing oil in a pressure chamber of the hydraulic lifter 22 and a check valve 52 for opening and closing an oil discharge path 50 in case of necessity are provided at least partly on the hydraulic lifter 22 of a valve moving mechanism for a cylinder to construct an operating cylinder number control system for a multi- cylinder engine COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
