Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To prevnet both the reduction in the creeping resistance at the periphery of a segment electrode and the blot by supplying a special silane coupling agent to the interface between a glass substrate and an organic high molecular film of polyimido. CONSTITUTION: The upper and lower glass substrates 1 and 2 having transparent electrodes 3 and 3' are coated with a silance coupling agent such as γ-ph0eylaminopropylmethoxysilane having an amino and methoxy radicals and are further formed thereon with polyimido organic high molecular films 4 and 4'. The substrates 1 and 2 holds a liquid crustal 5 inbetween and are selaed at their pheripheries with a seal 6. As a result, it is possible to prevnet the water from stealing into the cell to reduce the creeping resistances of the peripheries of the electrodes 3 and 3' thereby to make the area 11 surrounding the electrodes into an electrode and to prevent the operating portion 13 from being established due to the moisture absorption at a portion surrounding the notmal operating portion 12 of the liquid crystal 5 thereby to from a blot COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
