Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To improve white uniformity with the reduced amount of mislanding electron beam due to thermal deformation, by making the curvature at the center part of the effective surface of a shadow mask larger than any other curvature at the center part or circumferential part. CONSTITUTION: Shadow mask 4 is arranged along internal surface 3a of panel 3 of a spherical color picture tube. At this time, the curvature of middle part P of effective surface 4a of mask 4 is made larger than any other one of center part 0 or circumferential part Q. As for the size of this, its diameter, when being denoted by R, is set to 5R above the curvatures of center part 0 and circumferential part Q. In the other method, internal surface 3a of panel 3 is worked so that the curvature of middle part M will be smaller than any other curvature of center part L or circumferential part S.
