Organosilicon compound containing benzoin group and its preparation

Abstract

Abstract NEW MATERIAL:Organosilicon compound bearing benzoin group of formulaI(R 1 is H, 1W4C alkyl; R 2 is monofunctional hydrocarbyl; n is positive integer). EXAMPLE: The compound of formula II. USE: Photopolymerization sensitizer. Said compound has excellent compatibility and sensitizing activity and does not cause the ununiform curing of photosensitizing resins and the deposition of the sensitizer from the final products. PREPARATION: A benzoin compound of fomrula III such as benzoin, 2 methylbenzoin, 2-ethylbenzoin and an organosilicon compound of formula IV (X is H, halogen, OH, 1W4C alkoxy) in a molar ratio of 2 or more benzoin to 1 silicone compound in an organic solvent such as benzene are subjected to dehydrogenation when X is H; dehydrohalogenation when X is halogen; dehydration when X is OH; or dealcoholation when X is alkoxy; depending upon X, to form the compound of formulaI.
