Abstract PURPOSE: To reduce the thickness of the whole display unit for the portable electronic computer which uses an ultra-thin liquid crystal display unit, by forming the glass substrate of the liquid crystal element device with the ultra-thin glass of under 0.5mm and using the biphenyl-group material for the liquid crystal.
