Multi-nozzle ink jet printer of variable resolution
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To make it possible to desirably vary the resolution of a printer by providing a multi-nozzle ink jet head, which has its plural orifices arranged on a line, such that the angle respect to the main print scanning direction is variable. CONSTITUTION:In a multi-nozzle ink jet printer of impulse type, the orifices 16 at the leading end of a nozzle are arranged on a line to constitute a multi-nozzle head 15. The head 15 is constituted variable in the direction (of the orifice array) with respect to the main scanning direction (depicted by an arrow). According to the head thus far described, the resolution compared in dot number takes a value 2.25 times (in Fig. B) for the angle theta between the orifice array and the main scanning direction = 42 degrees and four times for the angle theta = 30 degrees (in Fig. C) while using the case of the angle theta having 90 degrees (in Fig. A) as a reference. Incidentally, it is necessary to add a compensating circuit for compensating the displacement in the positional relationship between the dot on a printing paper and the orifices, which is established as a result of the inclination of the orifice array. It is preferred that the resolution be augmented and that the size of the ink dots be reduced.
