Optical connector
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent variatons in coupling characteristics and achieve long-term stability of said characteristics and easier connection work in connecting optical fibers or other by providing a taper portion, fine hole, transparent thin plate, reinforcing tube, etc. to a plug, etc. CONSTITUTION:A plug 100 consists of a plunger 1, optical fiber 2, reinforcing cylindrical tube 3, etc. and fits into a receptacle 19. The plunger 1 and receptacle 19 do not cause mis-alignment because they fit together by way of tapered portions 20, 9. Provision of a fine hole 6 on the central axis at the end of the plunger 1 facilitates positioning of optical fibers 2. Further, a transparent thin plate 8 facilitates the axial positioning and end face treatment of optical fiber strands 2-1. Next, the reinforcing cylinder 3 gives slack to the optical fibers in its space and absorbs external force, thereby preventing the change in coupling characteristics. In this way, the prevention of variations in coupling characteristics, long-term stability and the improvement in workability may be achieved.
