Polymerization or copolymerization of ethylene
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To prepare an ethylene (co)polymer having broad molecular weight distribution, by using a new catalyst system comprising a highly active titanium catalyst component containing titanium, magnesium and a halogen, an organoaluminum compound and an aluminum trihalide. CONSTITUTION: Ethylene is polymerized or copolymerized with other α-olefin and/ or a polyene in the presence of a catalyst system comprising (A) a highly active titanium catalyst component containing titanium, magnesium and a halogen, wherein preferably the amount of titanium is 0.3W15 wt.% and the molar ratio of the halogen to titanium is 5W200, (B) an organoaluminum compound, e.g. trialkylaluminum, etc., and (C) an aluminum trihalide. The specific surface area of (A) is preferably 40W900 m 2 /g. A preferred compound for (B) is expressed by the formula [R 1 and R 2 are (cyclo)alkyl, etc.; X is halogen; 0<m≤3, 0≤n<3, 0≤p<3, 0≤q<3, and m+n+p+q=3]. COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
