Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To measure the lengths of measuring objects by providing a signal processing circuit which counts the photoelectric signal generating periods from charge transfer elements. CONSTITUTION: The video of the measuring object 8 is formed on the planes of photo diodes 2 via lens 6 and are received in the photo diodes 2. The photoelectric signals by these are transferred and outputted by charge transfer elements 1. The outputs are led to a waveform processing unit 3, where the waveform 11 is obtained based on the received light levels and the non-received light levels. The interpeak spacings of said waveform 11 are gated to create a count waveform 12. The multiplication of the value thus counted and the pitch (d) of the diodes 2 is accomplished with an arithmetic display device 5 and the results are digitally displayed.
